before...and after
Here's the before shot. We let him get pretty hairy during the winter. But it is very cold here, so he's needed the insulation! The only problem with the long hair is that lots of burrs and twigs get stuck in it. So we went for the full shave! The groomer was not sure if shaving him was a good idea...but he turned out pretty well. We were all quite surprised!

This is not how you are supposed to cut a Lagotto. He should have hair left on top and his leg hair should be longer. But he is sure to find this a lot cooler. It's hard to believe that there's so much less dog under all that hair! We just wanted to see what he looked like. Don't tell the international Lagotto community...they would frown on this cut, for sure! We'll let his head grow out, but his body is being kept short until the autumn.

introducing...Lorenzo!
in the water, with Lorenzo
Lorenzo loves to get in the water and swim around. He will chase after a stick, but he also just likes to go in with the other dogs. He has webbed feet and a long tail, both of which help him in the water. Lagottos were once used to retrieve game in the marshlands in Italy.
enjoying the sandy beach
Note the super cute pink nose. The Lagotto does not have a black nose...that's how you can tell that it's a Lagotto!
getting sandy at the beach
Lorenzo loves to run on the beach.
He gets at least one hour to run, flat out, a day. Usually, he gets more than that. Lagottos are a working breed, so they really need to run every day, or they get a little wiggy!
reclining with the gordon setter
ummmm...mud!
Due to the Lagotto's nose... they do enjoy the mud! Usually, a rinse in the tub will do it. His coat is very easy to look after. It is pretty dense and woolly, which is good in the winter. We have just had him shaved for the summer, so he will be more comfortable. I'll get a picture of that up soon!
